ANN INC. AND REMAKE VISIT TO SUPI

Posted in Village Ways Charitable Trust on Wednesday, January 20th, 2016

Village Ways Charitable Trust accompanied teams from Ann Inc. (American clothing company) and Remake (video production team) to Supi village from 1st to 5th December 2015 to explore the immense potential for artisanal work and assess the impact of HER Network health awareness project at the village.

Since the establishment of the Community Centre, Supi has been a hub of artisanal activity fully equipped with 9 foot operated sewing machines to handle big production and a space for tassel making, knitting and Ringal weaving!!

The Trust has been instrumental in creating a bond between the seamstresses of Supi and Ann Inc. The orders are carefully executed forging a relation between the ‘creators’ and the ‘buyers’. This wonderful story shared between continents was captured by the award winning video production team from USA – Remake.

A meeting with our volunteer Peer Health Educators (PHEs) was organised where they shared health information they have learnt and how it has helped them in their everyday lives. The Community centre has a room for health where trainings will happen and doctor will visit at least once a month.

2016 brings with it hopes for expansion of artisanal work and health project spreading to different villages!
